Jimmy Carter...a man for the ages
There are not many Presidents I admire. I tend to be a cynic of the highest degree. For one, I called it in junior high when I read "All The President's Men" that Gerald Ford cut a deal for the White House. I.e. he got the presidency and Nixon got a pardon. As we know, and he admitted after his death by a published interview, it was true.
Howeve, even without his comments on Wilson, I love Jimmy Carter. I have always found it amusing that the first President Bush who swore that 'volunteerism would save the country" has not volunteered anything. Instead everything he has done, lectures, talks etc..has been for money.
His son has reportedly stated his goal in retirement is to refurbish his coffers (and his reputation, better luck he will have on the former rather than the latter).
While former President Carter has devoted his time to Habitat for Humanity and other worthwhile endeavors that help the public. A more decent man inside or outside of the White Hous in politics it would be hard to find.
Now he has out and out called Wilson and racist. I don't know if I believe all of his corralary's but I do think the comment of "He lies" was based on that. If solely because it is doubtful he would have been that disrespectful to a white man.
Now Wilson's son is defending him, but I would love to have someone ask him the question, and his father as well: Would you have dared to heckle a white President like that?
